“Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says ‘Jesus is accursed!’ and no one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except in the Holy Spirit” -1 Corinthians 12:3

If you have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you, than the words “Jesus is accursed” shouldn’t even cross your mind. Accursed means detestable, loathsome, foul, abominable, etc. There were people in the church in Corinth that were speaking these things, and giving the responsibility of those words to the Holy Spirit. Paul is warning the church to beware of these people, and to know they are false. Paul continues to tell them that no one can say Jesus is Lord except through the Holy Spirit. This makes me think of the verse in Matthew 7 that says “Not everyone who says to me “Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven.” Anyone can say “Jesus is Lord” and have it mean nothing, but for someone to truly live a life with Jesus as his Lord has to have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of him. The people that are exclaiming these things, without genuineness, will have to depart from the presence of the Lord.

Today I will spend time in the word, so that I will be better equipped at discerning spirits.
